A ONE donkey town, with no obvious sights (apart from, of course, the dramatic, snow-capped backdrop of the Sierra Nevada in winter) has no right to a restaurant of this calibre. But this is Spain and when Granadino chef Miguel Ayala decided to come home after a glittering career that had taken him via Belgium, Paris and New York, he wanted somewhere with 'no traffic lights and somewhere to park my car'.
There is certainly no problem with that here, and thankfully his cooking is so good that punters come from as far and wide as Malaga and Seville to try it out. El Olivo is simply one of the most interesting and off beat restaurants you are likely to find in Spain.
