THIS could easily be one of the best sited restaurants in Christendom. In what was once very much Arabic land, the small French-run bistro sits overlooks the ancient Moorish village of Casares, which clings to a bony hilltop close to the Costa del Sol.

And while views of the classic white town – not to mention towards Africa in the distance - are paramount, if you are missing foie gras and other French delights then this is the place for you. That is not to say that Elizabeth doesn't know how to knock up good, hearty Spanish fare too... her wild boar casserole in season is delicious.
